Random thought, I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -West Bradenton sits at 645.7 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a contractor and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Portland about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in The Heights for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The walkability scene is tough
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
