Hey, Rent is about $972/month for a decent place. Let me know your thoughts. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much established but now it's challenging.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 6 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Can feel isolated. And safety can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from New York about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is average.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Denver about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
