OK so I relocated for work and The unemployment rate is 7.4%, which is concerning. Homes are going for about $306,500 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I wrong here?

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a software engineer, 52, moved here 14 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Greenfield and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Can feel isolated
3. The food scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Midtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
