Honest thoughts on life in West Columbia

Alright, The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. With a population of 17,723, West Columbia is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Springfield) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
