Is West Des Moines good for remote workers?

OK so I'm a 35-year-old contractor and Crime rate is something to consider -West Des Moines sits at 186.0 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,194 for rent here. Homes are going for about $286,300 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Lakewood area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Fairview for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
- The school system scene is average

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.
