Curious what people think. I've been here for 13 years and Poverty rate is 5.2%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I work in retail here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is better than expected. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Downtown area are solid. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Springfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much developing but now it's hit or miss.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.
