Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 10 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Westside area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2016 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
