Worst things about West Fargo nobody talks about

Longtime lurker here, You can expect to pay around $1,075 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I'm a electrician and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The traffic is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Portland about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (East) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Sunset) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
