West Hartford is underrated, change my mind

Hey everyone, Just moved here 14 months ago and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a smaller city city with about 63,809 people. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What are your go-to spots? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 15 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've been here 14 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.

Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in legal. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a writer and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.
