Best areas to explore in West Haverstraw?

OK so I relocated for work and With a population of 10,663, West Haverstraw is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Let me know your thoughts. Looking forward to hearing from you all. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Downtown area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely solid and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Riverside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
