Hey folks, My partner and I are With a population of 5,138, West Hills is a small town. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What would you do? Any help is appreciated.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The housing market scene is improving
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Springfield) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 4 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
