West Hills in the winter -how bad?

Hey folks, I've been here for 8 years and It's a a small town city with about 5,138 people. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The pet-friendliness is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The dating scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 34, moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Midtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The housing market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. solid vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
