Anyone else feel this way? It's a a smaller city city with about 35,090 people. The unemployment rate is 6.1%, which is concerning. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Worth the trade-offs? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Raleigh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cultural scene is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Chicago about 14 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the West side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.
