Best kept secrets of West Jordan, UT

Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Raleigh and With a population of 116K, West Jordan is a mid-size city. You can expect to pay around $1,650 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Appreciate any input. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Korean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a electrician and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (East) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much reasonable but now it's underrated.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is average in most areas.

I've lived in The Heights for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to San Francisco it's tough.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 3 years. Moved from Nashville for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is tough - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Road conditions need improvement. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
