I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $454,700, which is pretty steep. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 12 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Uptown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cost of living scene is decent
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely tough and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Tampa about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
