Been meaning to ask this. Poverty rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $138,526, which feels pretty solid for the area. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Moved here from Pittsburgh about 4 years ago. it's not perfect but it works for me. Still getting used to weather but Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The job market is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is underrated in most areas.
