Remote worker thinking about West Linn

Random thought, Household incomes average around $138,526 in West Linn. Median household income is $138,526, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,065 people. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 48, moved here 11 years ago from LA. I've lived in Riverside and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The dating scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.
