West Linn housing prices -when will it stop?

Hi all, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Does this match your experience? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 10 years. Moved from Austin for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is tough - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Nightlife is limited. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
