West Little River quality of life -am I missing something?
Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Miami and Crime rate is something to consider -West Little River sits at 581.2 per 100K. Median household income is $51,834, which feels on the lower side for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Is this normal for West Little River?

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 54, moved here 6 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Riverside and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The walkability situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 15 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
