Hey, It's a a small town city with about 6,441 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 5 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Austin about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Happy to answer more specific questions..
