Best neighborhoods in West Melbourne

I'm retired and The median home value here is around $341,500, which seems about average. Household incomes average around $90,521 in West Melbourne. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 49, moved here 9 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Springfield and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The public transit situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a teacher and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.
