Hello, I'm a 45-year-old electrician and Crime rate is something to consider -West Memphis sits at 1,984.3 per 100K. The median home value here is around $119,100, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $119,100 on average. It's a a small town city with about 24,147 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks for reading. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is decent. Tons of great sushi places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much affordable but now it's surprisingly good.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 1 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.
