The good and bad of living in West Miami

Hi all, I'm retired and Household incomes average around $56,509 in West Miami. The median home value here is around $436,700, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -West Miami sits at 143.5 per 100K. Median household income is $56,509, which feels about average for the area. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Growing food scene
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Limited cultural events
Worth the trade-offs? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 14 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- The cost of living scene is decent

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2023 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The traffic is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
