Hey folks, With a population of 12,837, West Monroe is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Has anyone dealt with this? The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The weather scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 5 years. Moved from Baltimore for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
