Should I move to West Monroe or stay in Minneapolis?
Hi all, You can expect to pay around $815 for rent here. Household incomes average around $46,663 in West Monroe. Homes are going for about $174,400 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Dallas it's decent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 13 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
