OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 54, moved here 7 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Uptown and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The outdoor recreation situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to San Diego it's tough.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The walkability is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Sunset for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Seattle about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 14 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Atlanta about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

No regrets on my end..

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
