Planning a move to West Palm Beach — neighborhoods?

Hi all, Crime rate is something to consider — West Palm Beach sits at 761.5 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $369,800 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I've lived in Westside for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- The nightlife scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The healthcare is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Miami it's excellent.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is tough

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
