What surprised you most about West Palm Beach?

Hey everyone, Average temperature is around 76°F, so it's warm year-round. You can expect to pay around $1,709 for rent here. Median household income is $69,261, which feels about average for the area. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good job market
- Diverse community

Cons:
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Atlanta it's better than expected.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 54, moved here 13 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Cedar Grove and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The walkability situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
