Anyone else love living in West Pensacola?

Alright, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -West Pensacola sits at 705.5 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Portland about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
