Median household income is $39,897, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a a small town city with about 12,341 people. Homes are going for about $158,700 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thoughts? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 46, moved here 1 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Downtown and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The cost of living situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for remote workers. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
