Is West Plains still affordable?

I relocated for work and The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 12,341, West Plains is a small town. Household incomes average around $39,897 in West Plains. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
