West Pleasant View quality of life -am I missing something?

Random thought, You can expect to pay around $1,795 for rent here. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Let me know your thoughts. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 25, moved here 15 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Sunset and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The school system situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely average and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Westside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.
