Housing in West Point compared to Minneapolis

I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $118,660 in West Point. The median home value here is around $437,800, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -West Point sits at 42.8 per 100K. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community
- Active local events

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Not enough green space

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 9 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in East for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The safety scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
