Life in West Richland as a young professional

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 17,126, West Richland is a small town. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I overthinking this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Fairview) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much competitive but now it's better than expected.
