I've been here for 16 years and Crime rate is something to consider -West Sacramento sits at 389.9 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..
