Housing market in West Sharyland right now

Anyone else feel this way? My partner and I are Poverty rate is 28.6%, which is higher than I expected. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely solid and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Highland) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
- The pet-friendliness scene is tough

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 1 years. Moved from Dallas for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Can feel isolated. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Tampa about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is average.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
