OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for family and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The walkability is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
