Rent in West St. Paul getting crazy

Hey folks, My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 7.0%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 14 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Baltimore it's surprisingly good.

I've lived in Fairview for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- The healthcare scene is decent

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much stable but now it's hit or miss.
