It's a a small town city with about 1,894 people. Homes are going for about $108,200 on average. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely better than expected and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is average in most areas.

Came here for school and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The public transit is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is challenging in most areas.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Westside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 7 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
