Why I chose West University Place over bigger cities
Hey everyone, I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. You can expect to pay around $3,000 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Uptown area are improving. Kids love it here.
