Best things about West Valley City that nobody talks about

As a 15-year resident, here are some things about West Valley City that don't make it into the guides:

1. There are amazing hiking trails 20 min from downtown
2. The library system is phenomenal
3. The sunsets here are genuinely beautiful

It's not for everyone but it's perfect for us.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Westside and Downtown are perfectly safe.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Highland Park. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

If you can afford it, Southside is the best place to live. Period.

Don't sleep on Eastside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is the west side tends to be more affordable. Makes a big difference.

The job market has been improving lately. Several tech companies moved in recently.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Coming from Houston, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 1 years and my experience is very similar.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 9/10.
