Best industries in West Whittier-Los Nietos right now

OK so Homes are going for about $607,100 on average. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think?

I've lived in Old Town for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- The nightlife scene is tough

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in North for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The school system scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Korean places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 57, moved here 12 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Riverside and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cost of living situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for retirees. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

**What I love:**

2. Good schools in most areas
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**

2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The weather situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**

I work in finance here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is decent. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
