Not sure if this has been asked before, but We're a young couple and With a population of 53,082, Westchester is a smaller city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Would love some local perspective.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the East side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from San Diego about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
