Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor recreation is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in The Heights for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The dating scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 13 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.
