Living in Westchester -the reality

So, My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 16,524 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Westchester sits at 117.1 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Any advice would be great. TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 6 years. Moved from Charlotte for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Far from beaches/mountains. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to San Diego it's surprisingly good.

I've been in West for 4 years. Moved from Baltimore for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is tough - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Bugs and humidity in summer. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is tough in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
