What's it really like living in Westchester?

Hi all, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $297,400, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,767/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,767 for rent here. Household incomes average around $103,561 in Westchester. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:

- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Lack of diversity
- Not enough green space

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is average in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
