Hey everyone, Been living here since 2020. With a population of 13,353, Western Springs is a small town. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I overthinking this? Thanks for reading. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is underrated in most areas.

I've lived in East for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The public transit scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The healthcare is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Dallas it's better than expected.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
