Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Chicago and Poverty rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 13,353, Western Springs is a small town. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Is this normal for Western Springs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely average and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Fairview) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
