What surprised you most about Western Springs?

Alright, I'm retired and Median household income is $218,839, which feels pretty solid for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.
