What I wish I knew before living in Westerville

Hey everyone, You can expect to pay around $1,409 for rent here. Rent is about $1,409/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I work in finance here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is underrated. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 9 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 34, moved here 14 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Lakewood and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The cultural scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 6 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The community vibe is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
